Nicol Carrots is a long-established business with a reputation for providing outstanding products and delivering premium value to our customers through innovation, teamwork, integrity, continuous learning, quality, and customer service. We are looking for the right person to join our team as a skilled horticulture worker.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with farm activities in all weather conditions, such as:
- Associated irrigation installation, maintenance, and repairs.
- planting and weed prevention of crops
- digging holes manually and using equipment
- spraying and recording in spray diaries
- following work instructions
- Maintaining records as directed in relation to QA and safety.
- Operation of farm equipment upon completion of training.
- Assist with crop watering and visual check/inspections as required.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained to a high standard and report any breakdowns to management immediately.
- Perform any other reasonable farm duties not listed here, as requested by the management
Requirements:
- Chem Cert; Forklift and MR license (essential), or have the ability to obtain
- Basic knowledge of horticulture
- Knowledge/experience with irrigation and plant nutrition
- Ability to operate pumps and irrigation systems
- Ability to operate John Deere GPS systems or a passion to learn
- work unrestricted after-hours during the summer to operate the irrigation
- Ability to work independently
- Computer literacy
- Reliable and logical thinker with a willingness to learn
